Shades-Remade Redux

In 2022, after I’d passed my Domestic Electrical Installer City & Guilds but before I realised just how knackered I was post-lockdown, I started the ball rolling on a new venture called Shades-Remade.

The idea being that I would find vintage, generally glass but not always, light shades that I thought were interesting and give them a new lease of life. It was never really going to be a main income kind of thing, but just something I could do that was creative, a bit complicated but also fun.

It ground to a halt shortly after it began purely because of how knackered I was. And so my beloved shades and all the bits and bobs I acquired to remake them remain in boxes in the loft. I had unpacked them once before, but as the house renovation progressed, it wasn’t long before they were back up there out of the way of steel-toed boots and falling stuff.

Anyway, I was searching my phone for something else and came across these videos: early content for the Shades-Remade website.

What struck me about these videos is how different Shades-Remade Lyndsey is to UK Bid Writer Lyndsey and definitely to Whoever-I-am-now Lyndsey. She’s softer somehow. Witty. Relaxed (which is surprising, given the circumstances at the time). I like her.

I’ve decided to give her a bit of space on this site – let’s see what she does with it.
